A landscape photograph describes a place and a decision about how to see it. Begin with the relationship between foreground, middle distance and horizon, then notice how weather and time of day change that relationship.
Read the light before the scene
Compare images made in direct sun, open shade and overcast conditions. Hard light can carve out shape; soft light can reveal subtle colour and texture. Neither is automatically better. Ask whether the chosen light supports the mood and the important features of the place.
For your own location study, make one wide image, one tighter frame and one detail without moving far. The exercise helps separate an interesting view from a deliberate photograph.
